There is a bench just a few feet to the south of this sculpture and a bronze plaque which indicates if you sit on the bench and look through the hole it zeroes in on exactly where the helicopter crash occurred. This Natoma Lake location is home to the Natoma Flats Recreational Area and there is a big aquatic center housed here. Several colleges store there rowing and crew boats for some of the water activities. The public can rent boats, kayaks, etc. at the center. It's a fun place to visit.
This building has a new name, and is under new management. It is now renovated and renamed the Hard Rock Cafe Casino. It features truckloads of rock-and-roll memorabilia. Very interesting place to visit.
This is he whale museum and visitor center at Seacliff beach, Aptos, California. You can see the steep cliff behind the tree, and hence the name. There is a huge wooden staircase to the east (right of picture) and a wharf nearby. To the west (left) is path along the beach with camper parking and a memorial wall at the end where people post picture of their pets; and some loved ones. You can see wonderful view of the beach, the cliffs, birds, and the surf from here. Bring a camera.
It's 151 steps, one way. I counted 'em. Watch out: There are always fitness nuts running up and down these stairs just for the "fun" of it! Be sure to visit the wharf and the deteriorating cement ship at the end of the pier. There is a whale museum at the bottom too. Enjoy is a nice hike to the west populated by a huge lot of campers and trailers. The folks and dogs are friendly and at the end of a 20-minute walk there is a very touching wall of memorials to lost pets and people. And of course, the views, the ocean breezes, and the birds are just wonderful!
