Center for the Arts Opens Student Art Gallery

What: Art Gallery Ribbon Cutting and Opening Reception

When: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27

Where: Center for the Arts at Wesley Chapel, 30651 Wells Rd., in Wesley Chapel

Why: The Center for the Arts at Wesley Chapel Inaugural 2016-17 Season Art Gallery Exhibition kicks off with a dedicated art gallery featuring rotating student artwork as. The first exhibition will display artwork by Wesley Chapel High School students and will be on display through Saturday, November 19. Pine View Middle School SRO, 8th Graders, to Solve “Crime”

Who: Pasco Sheriff’s Cpl. Elissa Elders and Ms. Hudak’s 8th grade reading students

What: Read-Off

When: All day Friday, October 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Where: Pine View Middle School, 5334 Parkway Boulevard, Land O’ Lakes

Why: To promote the school’s 10

How: Cpl. Elders will conduct a "read off" in all of Ms. Hudak’s 8th grade reading classes. The students are currently reading "The Tell Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe. This "read off" will involve Cpl. Elders "briefing" the students on a crime that happens in the book. All students will have to work together to figure out the clues to solve the crime. Once all clues are found, the students will find the key to a locked tool box, which will contain the necessary items to finish their project.

Ridgewood High School track

District to Host 2nd Annual Fall Instructional Job Fair

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (October 18, 2016) – Pasco County Schools is hosting a job fair for teachers and student services employees from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at Anclote High School. Positions are available at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in the following areas:

• Reading
• Math
• Science
• Emotional and Behavioral Disorders/Autism Spectrum Disorder (EBD/ASD)
• School Nurse
• Behavioral Analyst

Land O’ Lakes Student Chosen as Advisor to President Obama

Land O’ Lakes, FL – (October 18, 2016) – Logan Beatty, a 9th grade Land O’ Lakes High School International Baccalaureate® student, will be visiting The White House on October 21, as one of President Barack Obama’s Kid Science Advisors.

The White House chose Logan for this honor based on his Kid Science Advisor Initiative Essay Contest entry. He will participate in a roundtable discussion about future STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) ideas with The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, senior Administration officials, pioneers of scientific discovery, and other Kid Science Advisors.

“I am proud of Logan and the honor The White House has extended to him,” said Kurt Browning, Pasco County Superintendent of Schools. “I predict that he will have continued success and an impact in the STEM field.”
