“I just wanted to send my thank yous. I have been following you for a while, have all of your cookbooks and love your recipes. Recently (the last two months), my weight loss stalled. I’ve lost 70 lbs since last year and have another 50 to go (down 110 lbs from my heaviest weight). My husband has lost 75 lbs.
I was keeping my carbs under 30g but didn’t pay any attention to my protein and fat.
1 1/2 weeks ago, I started tracking everything. 5% carbs, 15% protein and 80% fat. Although my fat intake isn’t quite there, I (counter-intuitively) upped my fat dramatically. Lo and behold, I’m losing again!
I work, I go to school full-time (graduating in December…wahoo!!!), I’m a wife, mom and grandma. Life is super busy but I make sure to make the time to cook. I spend Saturday mornings baking. Through Maria, and further study, I have become very aware of what is in food and make my choices accordingly. Please, don’t ever feel defeated. I didn’t think I could do this but I did. I’ve heard it from others…If I can do this, so can you! This is now our lifestyle. This is not a “diet”. We will be eating like this for the rest of our lives. We’re losing weight, our BP is down, we’re getting off of meds…and we’re looking good too! I just want to say thank you to Maria again! She’s made this transformation “easy” through her writings, her explanations (it’s easier to make choices when it makes sense and Maria is great helping it make sense) and all of her wonderful recipes!
On a side note, we also have a 14 year old son. In the last year of making these changes, he has only lost 5 lbs (he was pretty heavy as well)…however, he grew 5 inches. He went from 5’7″ and 195 lbs to 6’0″ and 190 lbs. He’s looking fantastic! Very proud of him as well.
