Association for Psychological Type International

The Association for Psychological Type International (APTi), founded in 1979, is an international membership organization open to any individual interested in personality type. APTi Members come from a variety of backgrounds and professions including business and industry, organizational development, religion, education, psychotherapy, and counseling. Members seek to extend the development, research, applications and ethical use of type theory. APTi is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

In this issue, Stephen T. Weed joins Bob McAlpine in the continued discussion of their experimental workshops exploring the possible function/attitude pairings of the 8 functions. They begin with Myers’ explanation of what we may now think of as the “classic function parings” and the qualities they produce. McAlpine and Weed then expand the boundaries to consider how they might explore and incorporate both John Beebe’s and John Giannini’s models.

These articles are great examples of how psychological type continues to be a living, breathing field of inquiry. Enjoy! I warn you—they might “make your brain hurt,” as a colleague of mine used to complain after a day of technical writing. But it’s a “good hurt,” as they say, expanding our horizons, building new neural nets. Take a chance. It’s worth it.
