London Luton Airport Limited

Mass Passenger Transit System (MPT System)

London Luton Airport Limited (LLAL) is planning to build a new Mass Passenger Transit (MPT) System to service London Luton Airport.

The MPT is being developed to encourage passengers to travel to and from the airport via a more sustainable and efficient means of transport.

The MPT will be a fully automated and driverless system, approximately 2.2km in length and will transport passengers between Luton Airport Parkway station and the terminal.

In order to deliver the project, planning permission will be sought from Luton Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council and a planning application will be submitted at the end of January 2017. Subject to planning permission being granted, construction will begin in late 2017 and the MPT system will be operational by 2021.
