MULTIFAMILY PROGRAM

Find energy-efficient solutions and incentives to help you reduce energy use and save money.

BUILD ENERGY EFFICIENCY INTO YOUR MULTIFAMILY PROPERTY

Energy costs typically account for 25 to 35 percent of overall operating costs in multifamily housing, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Improving the energy efficiency of your multifamily property is one important way you can reduce costs and save money, while enhancing tenant comfort and increasing profitability and property value.

EVERYONE WINS WITH ENERGY EFFICIENCY

  • Reduce energy and water cost
  • Improve tenant comfort
  • Attract and retain tenants
  • Increase property value
  • Reduce maintenance costs and extend equipment life

SOLUTIONS AND INCENTIVES TO HELP YOU MANAGE COSTS

Delmarva Power offers multifamily properties comprehensive energy efficiency solutions, plus incentives to reduce your upfront costs and make energy efficiency upgrades more affordable. By installing upgrades that reduce energy use, you also can continue to save energy and money down the road.

Start with a Quick Home Energy Check-up (QHEC) — No Additional Cost to You

A specially trained energy professional will conduct a brief visual inspection of each unit and identify simple ways you can improve the energy efficiency of insulation levels, airtightness, windows, doors, heating and cooling systems, appliances, and lighting. With the owner’s or tenant’s permission, the energy professional also will install energy-saving items that can include:

  • CFLs in a variety of styles
  • LED lighting
  • Water heater tank wrap
  • Pipe insulation
  • Faucet aerators
  • Power strips
  • ShowerStart™ showerhead adapter
  • Efficient-flow showerheads

You will receive a detailed report on the energy efficiency equipment installed and associated energy savings. You also will receive recommendations for improving the safety and durability of the building and its equipment, including moisture control, carbon monoxide monitoring (if applicable), air sealing, and appliances. In addition, tenants will get energy efficiency educational materials. QHEC is available to you as part of your existing Delmarva Power service.

QHEC Is Just the Beginning: Take the Next Step and Save Even More

Delmarva Power offers additional ways you can save energy and money, including a focus on the shell and common areas of your multifamily property. A participating contractor will conduct an energy assessment of hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, exercise rooms, and other common areas and will make recommendations for improvements to help you start saving right away.

Delmarva Power has financial incentives that help cover the cost of making upgrades. Incentives are available for:

  • Commercial lighting
  • Commercial unitary HVAC
  • Variable frequency drives
  • Commercial refrigeration equipment
