Description:100 levels of auto-generated dungeon goodness, for those that don't have the Tribunal or Bloodmoon expansionsAard Vetooch ~~~~~~~~~~~~ by Blockhead aka Peter Capasso October 2003 This plugin is a 100-level dungeon, inspired by the 100 level (and more) dungeons created by Qwerty. The important difference between this dungeon and all of the large dungeons by Qwerty is that this plugin does *not* require Tribunal. You can play this dungeon with only the morrowind.esm file. Roughly one third of the levels have been created by my generators. Roughly two thirds of the levels were created by GenMod 3.1. Bits here and there were edited/tweaked/changed manually. Some of the levels span multiple cells. There are no special quests or unique treasure items: it is just a large underground dungeon to explore, filled with many goodies, and filled with many creatures that will try their best to kill you. There is also a bonus extra: a small house plugin. To maintain visual interest, the tile sets vary as you descend the levels. This provides some esthetic variety and reduces the monotony that is associated with these large dungeons. This plugin is an example of the sort of effect you can get by using *both* GenMod and my dungeon generators. Installation ------------ Simply unzip and copy the one ESP and this readme file to the "data files" directory off of your morrowind directory. Next time you run Morrowind, activate this plugin. Once in the game, go to Arrille's Tradehouse in Seyda Neen. The entrance is a trap door in the floor, over by where the lady is standing. Once you descend the trap door, you will find yourself in a short corridor ("Aard Vetooch, Entryway"). A branching to the right leads to a room ("Aard Vetooch, Room") that you can use as a house plugin. It has many empty containers of high storage capacity which you can use to store your loot. The Entryway ends in a door that leads to a Level 0 of Aard Vetooch. Level 0 has doors to every tenth level of the dungeon. The doors cannot be used until you have already reached the corresponding level. In other words, the door to level 20 will not work until you have already walked the long way to level 20. There is a also a trap door that leads down to level one of the dungeon. This is how you start your exploration. Resting on this trap door is an amulet. This amulet can be used to teleport back to Level 0 from anywhere within Aard Vetooch. The use of these scripted doors and the amulet is intended to emulate the functionality of the "Word of Recall" scrolls from Moria (a very old but very good text-only game). I had a concern that the amulet could be used to cheat. To prevent any complaints of cheating, I have scripted some limitations into the amulet. First, the amulet will only work from inside Aard Vetooch. Secondly, there is a delay of about twelve seconds between equiping and teleporting. Thus, the temptation to use the amulet as a fast escape from trouble is reduced. The "word of recall" scroll in Moria also had a delay like this, although that was a turn-based delay, not a time-based delay. Compatibility ------------- This plugin does not need Bloodmoon. It does not need Tribunal. It has been tested with Tribunal & Bloodmoon and it runs fine with them. This plugin does not conflict with any Official Bethesda expansions or patches as of August of 2003. This plugin does not conflict with any plugins previously made by myself. Compatibility with anything else is untested. Cells Modified -------------- Only one interior cell is modified. The rest are new cells. 1) Seyda Neen, Arrille's Tradehouse Legal Crap ---------- Upload, copy, swap, share, whatever this thing wherever you want. Just try to mention my name and where you got it. Distribution via CD/DVD is also fine, so long as my name ("Peter Capasso") and nickname ("Blockhead") both appear with the plugin on the CD (simply including this readme file as-is is enough to accomplish this). Contact / Feedback ------------------ Feedback is best left in the Mods & Plugins section of the Bethesda Forums, either by a posting or by a PM (my forum name is blockhead). Last Comments ------------- Most creatures are placed as leveled lists so everything should be leveled to your character level. Despite this, there is a tendency for lower level creatures to appear in the lower-numbered dungeon levels. The intent here is that a level one character will only encounter level one or two monsters in the first level. Going down deeper will shift the probabilities towards higher level monsters. In other words: it starts easy but gets harder as you go further down. TESAME is crucial. :) The name of the dungeon is pronounced "ard vuh TOOCH". Jim Adam's GenMod and my various dungeon generators were used to make most of the interior cells for this plugin. GenMod can be found at the author's home page at: http://home.cinci.rr.com/jimadam/ My dungeon auto-generators can be found at my page at: http://www.bestweb.net/~pogo/stuff.html Qwerts large dungeon plugins (which inspired this plugin) can be found at his two pages at: http://thelys.free.fr/qwert.htm http://qwerts.mods.web1000.com/ If you enjoyed this plugin and would like to try other plugins that I have written, you should be able to find them where you got this one, or you can go to my stuff page at: http://www.bestweb.net/~pogo/stuff.html | ||||
