The Cathedral Congregation is an Episcopal faith community growing together into the fullness of Christian life.

Established in 2007 and shepherded through the Office of the Vicar, the Cathedral Congregation is committed to walk together through regular worship, Christian formation, fellowship, pastoral care, and stewardship.

In our practice of welcome and hospitality, we seek to embrace Jesus’ radical message of inclusion. In outreach and advocacy beyond the walls of the Cathedral, we seek to honor the image of God in all persons. We invite you to explore the Christian life with us. Wherever you are your faith journey, you are welcome to join us in worship and fellowship, courses and discussion groups, and our many ministries.

A Cathedral Community

buttons3When you are ready to make the Cathedral your primary church home—to give your heart to worship, hospitality, study, service, and stewardship in this sacred place—we encourage you to complete an information form or contact the Vicar’s office.

You are also encouraged to meet members and learn about our community life by attending coffee hour on Sundays following the 9 am and 11:15 am services. Look for people wearing purple buttons!

Sacramental Services

Sacramental services such as baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals are available for members. Baptisms of children and adults take place on four specially appointed feast days: the Great Vigil of Easter, Pentecost, All Saints’ Sunday and the Baptism of our Lord. Confirmations are performed at the Cathedral biannually for candidates from the Diocese of Washington. Members are given priority for wedding and funeral services and other pastoral offices.

Community Fellowship

A core of lay leaders tends to our community and helps us connect with one another through fellowship events and activities. Often we get involved in ministries, courses, and programs because someone asked us. This “first asking” often happens at a social fellowship event.

The Community Fellowship Committee explores broader ways of bringing members together and increasing our support and connections. One such way is monthly potlucks—a great way to meet other members and find out about upcoming community opportunities.

On the second Sunday of the month, members bring dishes to share and the Vicar’s office provides the paper products, coffee, tea, and water. Perry Auditorium on the 7th floor is transformed into a friendly dining space. Volunteers are needed to help with setup and cleanup.

Additional events include: a hymn sing with refreshments, a Cathedral Scavenger Hunt, meals in congregants homes, an evening Eucharist with reception.
