Biography

Career Overview:

  • Jordan finished his career as the Pac-12 career leader in blocks with 314 in 122 games.

  • He led the nation in blocks (133) and blocks per game (4.03) in his senior season.  He is the fourth Sun Devil to lead the nation in an official NCAA statistic.

  • One of the most improved players in the nation from beginning of career to end, as he averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in freshman year and then averaged 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in senior year.

  • Finished his career with a .560 field goal percentage (354-of-632), seventh in school history, while his 122 games played is tied for sixth in the Sun Devil record book.

  • Jordan posted 17 career double-doubles, including 12 in his senior season.

  • Had seven career 20-point games, including a career-best 26 vs. Oregon on Feb. 8, 2014, and had 25 points in ASU’s 87-85 loss to Texas in the NCAA Tournament.

Senior (2013-14):

  • Was the 2013-14 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors.

  • Averaged 8.2 rebounds and clinched three games with blocks in final seconds.  His “walk-off” blocks included a 79-77 win over No. 25 Marquette (Nov. 25, 2013) and a 74-72 win over Oregon (Jan. 6), while his block in final seconds of 69-66 win over No. 2 Arizona on Feb. 14 led to game clinching dunk.  The win marked the highest ranked team ever beaten by the Sun Devils at home.

  • Helped lead the Sun Devils to a 21-12 overall mark, a 16-1 mark at home, and a NCAA Tournament appearance.

Junior (2012-13):

  • Posted the first triple-double in Sun Devil history in the Dec. 8 game against Cal State Northridge.  He had 13 points, 13 rebounds, and a school-record 12 blocks.

  • Shot .583 overall and .597 from the free throw line.

  • Averaged 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, and 9.8 points per game. 

Sophomore (2011-12):

  • Jordan saw more playing time his sophomore season, averaging 17.4 minutes per game.

  • He shot .578 from field goal range, and averaged 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 points, and 1.4 blocks per game. 

Freshman (2010-11):

  • Averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, shot .490 from field goal range, and was 50 percent from the free throw line.

  • Didn’t see much playing time his freshman year, only averaging 10 minutes in 24 games.

High School:

  • Averaged 18.5 points, 13.1 boards and 8.7 blocks his senior year.

Personal:

Jordan Bachynski is the son of John and Yolanda.  His younger brother Dallin plays basketball for Utah, and his sister Jessica plays basketball for Utah Valley.  Jordan’s wife, Malia, played volleyball at Arizona State.  He is fluent in Spanish, is a huge soccer fan, and is a reader of Gandhi.
