Barn Raising Quilt (& gallery from the “Square-Along”)
An afghan is the barn-raising of all knitting projects. This one uses intensely colored sock yarns to make a bold and warm blanket. The pattern can be used by a huge group or by one ambitious knitter. The quilt in the book was the product of our “Square-Along” knitalong. See their names and where they came from here.
The squares that compose this kind of quilt have their own fascination, and making them can be rather addictive. Here are some of our current faves:

- Alternative method: make your increases at the end of each needle, so you can always see how big your square is getting.
