If you pass, you know that you have what it takes to become a driving instructor in London.
We also believe in value for money, which is why we price driving instructor training tuition in manageable blocks (see our rates) that you can take at your own pace or fit around family and work commitments.
There are no up-front costs, and no wasteful classroom sessions. All instructor training consists of high-intensity, one-to-one sessions in the car.
And you’ll be learning from the best – instructors who have themselves achieved the top teaching grades.
Our senior instructor (Russell Platel) is one of the most qualified instructors in Southern England. He has all the skills you will need to be a success in the industry.
He is fairly unique in that he has a strong business background as well as having passed the top exams related to driving skills and teaching people to drive.
To build a healthy income and get referrals you need to be not just good technically but to have some knowledge of how to run a business.
There are many fine instructors out there who whilst they are very capable teachers are lacking when it comes to helping people with running a business and being self-employed. The skills necessary to achieve success are:
Russell spent four years at Business school and has an honours degree in Business Studies. He has also spent many years running one of the most successful driving schools in South London.
He is therefore able to advise new instructors on establishing themselves from a background of himself always being at the forefront of driving school business in South London and Surrey.
Russell is on ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Training).
Russell is a grade 6 instructor.
This is the top grade the DVSA give to driving instructors and only the top six percent of instructors in the UK have ever had this grade. Recently the DVSA have introduced a new grading system with grades A and B.
The proportion of instructors achieving a grade A from the first figures published under the new system are over twenty percent. It is therefore less of a badge of honour to be a grade A under the new system than it was to achieve a grade 6 under the old marking system.
Russell also holds the coveted DipDE diploma in driver education and has a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award in Coaching for driver development.
For many driving instructor trainers the last driving test they did was their own Part 2 and perhaps in the interim their own driving standards have slipped. Russell has taken further training to attain the top driving qualifications in the UK and be able to offer the best possible advice to his trainees regarding the driving component of the qualification process.
He has passed the Driving Instructors Association DIAmond Special Test. This test only allows two minors faults over ninety minutes.
He has also achieved ones in all the categories of the advanced test by the IAM to be awarded the Institute of Advanced Motorists F1RST. Russell has also taken RoSPA’s advanced test regarded as the toughest driving test a civilian can take.
This test is graded as being either at the bronze, silver or gold standard. Russell achieved the RoSPA Gold Driving Award.
