On January 31, 2007, NASA released a report regarding the extent of travel of chemicals from the JPL site. Upon release, NASA invited broad review and discussion of its study. NASA has received the following comments on the study:

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
October 22, 2007

California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)
February 6, 2007
May 21, 2008

City of Pasadena (with support from consultants, Geoscience Support Services, Inc.)
June 5, 2007

Southwest Hydrology trade magazine
July/August 2007

NASA is thoroughly reviewing all comments submitted and plans to discuss its review with commenters and with regulatory agencies that oversee the cleanup.

The NASA report stresses the importance of considering the information generated by all the tools together to best understand the complexities of underground conditions and the existence of perchlorate in local groundwater. NASA continues to have confidence in its study and in the conclusions reached.

NASA looks forward to continued scientific discussions and to determining appropriate next steps.
