The South Dakota Investment Council manages the financial assets of the State of South Dakota.  These include public retirement systems, public trust funds, and other financial assets.


The Investment Council was established by the South Dakota Legislature in 1971 and began operation on July 1, 1972.  The laws governing the operations of the Investment Council and the Division of Investment are found in Chapter 4-5 of South Dakota Codified Laws.
