A front extending from the Great Lakes southward to the Lower Mississippi
Valley will move eastward to off most of the East Coast by Sunday morning.
The system will produce snow over the Upper Mississippi Valley that will
move into the Upper Great Lakes by Saturday morning and winding down over
the Upper Great Lakes by Saturday evening. In addition, lake effect snow
will develop downwind from the Great Lakes and into the Central
Appalachians and parts of the Northern Appalachians on Saturday afternoon
into evening. The lake effect snow will wind down on Sunday over the
Upper Great Lakes. The lake effect snow will continue over parts of the
Lower Great Lakes and into parts of the Northern/Central Appalachians
through Sunday evening.
Additionally, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of
the front from parts of the Great Lakes to Lower Mississippi
Valley/Western Gulf Coast through Friday evening. Overnight Friday the
showers and thunderstorms will become rain along the boundary from the
Great Lakes to the Lower Mississippi Valley. By Saturday evening, the
rain will retreat to parts of the Central Appalachians and parts of the
Lower Great Lakes. The rain will move off the Mid-Atlantic Coast and
continuing over parts of New England by Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, a front over the Eastern Pacific will move onshore over the
West Coast overnight Friday moving inland to the Interior Pacific
Northwest into Central California by Sunday. A plume of moisture will
move into Central/Northern California by Saturday morning moving into
parts of Southern California by Sunday morning. Rain will develop over
parts of the Northwest/Northern California overnight Friday that will
expand inland by Saturday morning. The rain will move into parts of
Southern California by Sunday morning. Snow will also develop over the
higher elevations of the Cascades on Saturday morning and into parts of
the Northern Intermountain Region by Saturday evening. The snow at the
higher elevations will continue over the Northern Cascades into the
Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies through Sunday morning.
