Beginning January 1, 2017 children who were considered Maximum Family Grant (MFG), or a child born on or after January 1, 2017 will be eligible for CalWORKs cash aid.

Families who were receiving child support for a child who was previously denied cash aid because of the MFG rule may see some changes to the child support received when the child becomes eligible for cash aid on January 1, 2017.

The new streamlined online application takes about 20 minutes or more depending on the services you seek. You can start now and finish later, up to 60 days from when you start your application. A VIOLA video shows you how.

Cash paying customers can now pay their child support in person at many retail locations or at a kiosk at select county child support offices. Learn more about all of our available payment options.

The National Association of Counties presented awards in early June for county achievements that included the following child support programs: A webcam video chat service for child support customers in San Bernardino County, an outreach program to prison inmates in Lassen County, a method of establishing a visitation order when a child support case is established in San Diego County, a book vending machine in the child support lobby in Alameda County and a Tailored Analytics initiative in Los Angeles County.
