  • CONGRATULATIONS TO HARLEM UNITED F1 in schools team.Harlem United F1
    Harlem 21st CCLC High School students will be the first Native American Team to attend the F1 in Schools World Finals competition on October 16-19, 2016 in Austin Texas. These young students have worked hard all summer and almost every day afterschool to prepare for this competition.   • MONTANA 21ST CCLC NASA PROJECT
    Montana is one of fifteen states selected to work with NASA on a Scientific Research Process Project. The Montana 21st CCLC project will be working on Parachuting onto Mars (developing a drag device to slow a spacecraft for entry descent and landing), and “Why Pressure Suits” (developing a containment system to protect astronauts from the vacuum of space). Our students will be working with a scientist from NASA to assist them with this project. The project with NASA will run from October 2016 through March 2017. The 21st CCLC programs working on this project include Frenchtown, Centerville, Bigfork ACES, Hot Springs, Alberton, Boulder, Huntley, Rocky Boy, and Conrad. Hot Springs school was chosen to obtain training in Virginia to work on a Global project!!!
  • NO KID HUNGRY GRANT:
    Lisa Lee, RD, Director of Montana No Kid Hungry has sent out this announcement for a grant application. “We’re thrilled to announce our first set of grants for the 2016-2017 school year! No Kid Hungry has grants of up to $2000 for Afterschool Meals. The grant cycle ends on November 4th.     • There will be no 21st CCLC grant competition this year!  Our next Grant competition will be for the 2017-18 school year.

What is 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)?

21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)The 21st Century Community Learning Center Act (Title IV, Part B, of ESEA as reauthorized by No Child Left Behind Act of 2001) provides funds to LEAs and community based organizations through a competitive grant process. Awards must be for $50,000 or more and will be 5 years in duration.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers provide opportunities for academic enrichment during non-school hours (before-school, after-school and summer) in a community learning center environment. Services reinforce and complement regular academic programs and offer literacy and educational development to families.

Award priority must be to eligible entities that propose to serve: a) students who primarily attend schools eligible for schoolwide programs; or (b) schools that serve a high percentage of students from low-income families/40 percent free and reduced priced meals; and the families of students described in (a) or (b). Priority may also be given to applications submitted jointly by LEAs receiving funds under Title I, Part A, and community based organizations or other public or private entities.
