Welcome to the best online resource about “Medici – Masters of Florence”, the Medici family TV series scheduled to air in 2016.
Here you will find all the information on this new exciting TV series, that promises to be an international success. With protagonists like Dustin Hoffman and Richard Madden, and the intriguing history of the family, which doesn’t need a lot of “fiction tricks” to be interesting, the Medici family TV series will be particularly appreciated by who loved The Borgias or Da Vinci’s Demons.
At the time of writing, we don’t know much about the schedule of the series in the United States or United Kingdom. RAI TV, the Italian national TV, aired episodes 1 and 2 on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016. They will air 2 episodes each Tuesday, and with season 1 being made of 8 episodes, it will take 4 weeks.
The series has been sold to many European channels, while sales in the USA have been delegated to WME. I will update this info as soon as I have news.
The episodes are 60 minutes long, and both season 1 and season 2 (not yet filmed) will have 8 episodes each. Season 1 is focusing on the rise of the Medici, with the protagonists being Giovanni (1360-1429, Dustin Hoffman) and his son Cosimo (1389-1464, Richard Madden). Season 2 will focus on the life of Lorenzo, grandson of Cosimo.

Watch Medici Masters of Florence
Rai TV offered the double language option (Italian and English) but only for who can see the series on satellite or terrestrial decoder.
Rai Tv also has several options to be watched online: you can both see the “live” series, on RAI TV official website, or replay the episodes at any time during the following week but, apparently, there is no option to select the original language (English) track. I didn’t find a way to see Medici Masters of Florence in English online, so far, but if I do I will update here. If any of you finds a way (without infringing any copyright), let me know contacting us or leaving a comment. UPDATE OCTOBER 28th: RAI announced that it will be possible to see the episodes in English soon. Read more here.

The Medici family
The Medici family have been the protagonists of the history of Florence, Italy, from the 15th to the early 18th century, especially in the period of the Renaissance.
A family coming from nowhere that built a fortune with the banking activity, rose to become the rulers of Florence with political intrigues and then became one of the most powerful dynasties in Europe. In the Medici family tree, there were countless Cardinals, two Popes, two Queens of France, and seven Grand Dukes of Tuscany.
The Medici are remembered as very open-minded people, and as the greatest art collectors in history, who ignited the Florentine Renaissance: among the countless artists working for the family, across the generations, are the names of Filippo Brunelleschi, Donatello, Filippo Lippi, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Giorgio Vasari, and Benvenuto Cellini.
