PETALING JAYA: The Bersih 5 rally is set for Saturday, Nov 19.
Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah (pic) made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday.
She said that the group would stick to its demands for free and fair elections, among others.
Maria said that Bersih would also launch a nationwide “convoy” on Oct 1 to raise awareness.
“We will go to Kangar, Johor Baru, Kota Baru, Lumut, Sandakan and Miri.
“This will culminate with the rally in November,” she said, adding that the convoy would last for seven weeks and that “Bersih torches” would be passed during this period.
Maria said she was confident of a positive turnout for Bersih 5 despite reports that Malaysians were tired of rallies and protests.
She, however, did not disclose details for Nov 19 rally, stating that organisers would wait wait for the outcome of the seven-week “convoy”.
