Drought in Northeastern Wyoming PDF Print E-mail

Weston, Crook, and Niobrara are currently facing severe drought conditions. While they have now been declared disaster areas by the USDA based on US Drought Monitor data, there is still some concern that the data is not representative of the area. To help with this issue, individuals can participate in Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network which feeds data to the US Drought Monitor. Through this link (CoCoRaHS), individuals can receive a rain gauge they can use to input data to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network each day.

Along with this, the WDA is currently updating a list of available hay and pasture for producers who are in need. If you are a producer who would like to be on the list, please contact Derek Grant at derek.grant@wyo.gov.
