  • *** Please check the "Backcountry Facilities" section of the Temporary Road and Facilities Closures for any current trail or campsite closures (http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/temproadclose.htm) or contact the Backcountry Office at 865-436-1297.
    *** BAN IN EFFECT FOR ALL CAMPFIRES, frontcountry and backcountry campsites and picnic areas. Use of backcountry stoves is still permitted. A number of springs at campsites/shelters are also dry. Backpackers are encouraged to carefully consider their itinerary and carry extra water for sites that are not located along major water sources.
    *** Alum Cave Trail will be closed Monday-Thursday from May 2-November 17 for trail restoration. The Mount LeConte Shelter will be closed Monday-Thursday from May 2-October 13 to accommodate a youth crew working on the project. The LeConte Lodge will remain open during this time.
    *** Due to necessary bridge work, the Greenbrier Road will be closed to all access from November 14-18. The campsites that are accessible via other trailheads/trails will remain open during this time.
