State Officers Electoral Board
The State Officers Electoral Board (SOEB) will meet on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Suite 14-100, located on the fourteenth floor of the JRTC, 100 W. Randolph, Chicago, and at 2329 S. MacArthur, Springfield to hear and pass upon objections to resolutions to new political party and independent candidates seeking to appear on the ballot for the November 8, 2016 General Election. During this meeting, the cases will be called and appearances accepted (Objectors and Candidates may appear in person themselves or may be represented by counsel). In addition, the SOEB will adopt the Rules of Procedure and appoint hearing officers to preside over each objection.

Following the initial meeting, the hearing officers will meet with the parties assigned to them in Suite 14-100, located on the fourteenth floor of the JRTC, to conduct case management conferences to discuss brief and hearing schedules and other procedural matters. Evidence and argument will not be accepted at the initial meeting of the SOEB or at the case management conferences following the meeting.

Candidates are STRONGLY encouraged to check the SOEB website (www.elections.il.gov) to see if objections have been filed against them, and any such candidates should appear at the SOEB meeting on July 11, 2016 even if the candidate’s copy of the objection has not yet arrived by certified mail.
