Project Log: August 2009
Breaking Through for a New Entry
For the first time in almost a hundred years, the concrete footings of the southeastern face of the Idaho State Capitol were exposed to the above ground elements in preparation for cutting away a section of the 42-inch thick walls. This wall section was previously reinforced with additional structural steel which allowed demolition crews to precisely cut away concrete and open up these new entries to the building. The opening will make way for a new path which will allow visitors to enter the building directly using a newly redesigned Garden Level. Special thanks to Jacobsen-Hunt Joint Venture, www.jacobsenconstruction.com.
