On the Outside Book On the Outside On the Outside Book Extraordinary People in Search of Ordinary Lives $6.95 This 98 page paperback book contains the stories of 12 individuals who transitioned from state institutions to homes in the community during the 1980s and 90s. The people are as diverse as any cross-section of American society. Their stories contain the experience and wisdom of people who faced some of the consequences of having the label of disability.
A Reporter's Guide A Reporter's Guide: Reporting About People With Disabilities - A 52 page book written for media professionals and journalism students. Gives a good overview of disability rights, laws, issues and etiquette. Also contains key resources and references for additional information. *NOTE* Limited to 1 per order. A Parent's Advocacy Guide to Special Education This Guide was written to help parents understand the WV Department of Education Policy 2419, Regulations for the Education of Students with Exceptionalities and other relevant State and Federal regulations and policies. Also included are reference materials such as forms, sample letters, flowcharts, etc. as well as tips throughout to parents on ways to use the materials information in the Guide.
2014 Legislative Statements The 2014 WVDDC Legislative Statements This publication is a concise report of the most important issues affecting WV citizens with developmental disabilities each year. The Council works closely with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families and disability groups to develop this document. It is widely distributed to share this information with individuals with developmental disabilities, their family members, disability groups, the general public, and the WV Legislature.
