Biography

Molly Engstrom played hockey in high school at the Culver Military Academy in Indiana, and then played for the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 2007 with a degree in landscape architecture. Engstrom was Western College Hockey Association (WCHA) defenseman of the year in both 2003 and 2004. She played professionally in 2007-08 with the Brampton Thunder of the National Women’s Hockey League and in 2008-09 with the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Western Women’s Hockey League, leading both teams to league titles in both years. Engstrom continued to play on the US National Team and has been chosen for the 2010 Winter Olympic hockey team. As a junior girl, she played for the Minnesota Thoroughbreds, leading them to runner-up finishes at the National Championships in 1997 and 1999. Engstrom played for the US at the 2004 and 2005 World Championships, winning gold in 2005, and at the 2005 Four Nations Cup. She has served as an assistant coach for women’s hockey at Wisconsin. In high school, Engstrom was Wisconsin state champion with the discus, and also played in the Indiana State golf tournament.
