Biography

In the 1923 AAU cross-country championships, Art Studenroth finished second to the great Finnish runner [Ville Ritola], but Studenroth led his Meadowbrook Club of Philadelphia to the team title. Ritola and Studenroth met again over the country at the 1924 Olympics when Ritola placed second behind [Paavo Nurmi]. Running in extraordinary heat, Studenroth did well to finish sixth overall and was the second scoring member of the U.S. team that took the silver medals.
