ROUGH CUT (No reporter narration) STORY: Almost two years after Islamist militant attacks on French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, a German issue has hit newspaper stands in Germany on Thursday (December 1). Charlie Hebdo, known for its satirical covers gleefully ridiculing political and religious leaders, lost many of its top editorial staff when two Islamist militants broke into an editorial meeting on Jan. 7, 2015 and raked it with bullets. The cover of the first German issue shows a drawing of Chancellor Angela Merkel lying on a hydraulic ramp, with a VW mechanic working underneath, holding a muffler. According to German media reports, an initial run of 200,000 copies is to be printed in Germany, including both translated and original content.
