The Office of Patient Care Services (PCS) in Veterans Health Administration is dedicated to ensuring the full continuum of health care, which comprises health promotion, disease prevention, diagnostics, therapeutic and rehabilitative care, recovery and palliative care. PCS provides care through policy and program development that promotes dignity and respect, and is achieved by utilizing innovative approaches and technologies through interdisciplinary collaboration both within and outside of VHA.

The VA eKidney Clinic is now available! The eKidney Clinic offers patient education through interactive virtual classrooms where Veterans can learn how to take care of their kidneys and live a good life with kidney disease.  Information about related conditions, associated nutrition, laboratory, pharmacy, treatment, and social work services is provided and covers various aspects of kidney disease. The tool conveys complicated clinical information in an understandable way by effectively using video and animation, organizing content into manageable segments, and allowing patients and family members to work at their own pace and assess their understanding. Veterans can easily share information about possible treatment options with family members and caregivers who may not be able to participate in clinic visits, identify the various treatment options, and select among the options based on their priorities and lifestyle needs. Please visit the VA eKidney Clinic website.

We also are poised to face the challenges of the Affordable Care Act and to support VHA’s strategic plan to promote health and wellness. PCS has 20 service areas/programs and more than 1,700 employees whose dedication and commitment to excellence can be seen in their work on behalf of Veterans each and every day.  Detailed Listing for each Program Office
