'Hamilton' seats became available to the general public Monday morning, and only minutes after the official 10 a.m. sale time nearly 100,000 people were in the digital queue.

A first round of seats became available to American Express cardholders last Monday, and for that sale some 80,000 people were also in the digital line.

"If every position in the queue is being held by a person (as opposed to a bot), that equates to roughly 9 percent of San Francisco's population," SFGATE reported.

Today tickets went on sale online, by phone at 888-746-1799, and in person at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office for the SHNSF production that runs March 10 to Aug. 5.

The first people showed up at noon on Sunday to purchase seats in person—nearly 24 hours before San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre box office opened.

Reid Cammack, the No. 1 person in line, says his friend's sister took the overnight shift and he showed up early Monday morning to score the prized tickets to the Tony Award–winning show that uses rap music to tell the story of Alexander Hamilton.

"I've been really excited around the general hype of the show," Cammack, an S.F. resident said. "I've been to New York and tried to get tickets to the New York production. Now that it's here in S.F. I want to be sure to see if the first round."

The Orpheum Theatre has a capacity of just over 2,200 people—the show will sell out quickly and not everyone will get tickets.

Tickets for the show are going for a minimum of $100, with some costing up to $524.
