Welcome to the State of Illinois web-based electronic hiring system. This site provides posting and application information for current vacancies within the Departments under the jurisdiction of the Governor.
At the present time, online applications are not accepted for promotional grading. Current state employees should complete a Bid Form and should submit it to the hiring agency along with a copy of their employment application (CMS 100) before the end of the posting period.
The search criteria below may be used to narrow the vacancy choices based on occupational group, agency preference and/or county preference. Once the search criteria have been applied, a list of current postings matching those criteria will be provided. Applicants may then select a particular posting to obtain additional application and grading information for that posting/title.
If the applicant is a first time user of the electronic hiring system, a personal account will need to be created including a Username and Password. A user will be directed to the login step which will enable the creation of an account at the time the user selects the 'apply' link at the top of a posting. After the account has been established, an application may be created by clicking on the 'Build Job Application' link. This application can be saved and used to apply for more than one job opening. It is important that all relevant education and experience is documented on the application. Each user must create a separate Username and Password. Multiple users should not create applications or apply for positions utilizing the same Username and Password. Doing so could compromise an applicant's grade(s), eligibility and/or ability to be considered for vacancies.
Keep Your Contact Information Current: It is critical that the personal contact information you provide always be kept current. This would include information such as your name, address, phone number, etc. This information should be kept current even if you decide not to continue to use the online application system. Information provided online which becomes outdated or is inconsistent with new information submitted via paper applications can result in grade notices or referral letters being returned as undeliverable, eligibility not being established correctly, etc. It is the responsibility of the applicant to keep their personal contact information current! To update this contact information, login and click on "My Account." Edit your contact information as necessary and save your changes.
Applications may be rejected if incomplete. Online applications are stored on a secure site. Only authorized employees and hiring authorities have access to the information submitted. IMPORTANT:Your promotional grade for the title in which you intend to promote must be valid and in effect (i.e., not expired) on the date of the promotion. Special Notice - Discontinuation of Faxed Application Acceptance: As of the close of business, November 26, 2014, the CMS Division of Examining & Counseling will no longer accept and process open competitive applications (CMS-100) or promotional applications (CMS-100B) submitted by applicants via fax. Any open competitive or promotional applications sent by applicants via fax by CMS Examining after this date (November 26) will not be processed and will be destroyed. Disregard information included in any job posting that refers to faxing an application to CMS Examining as this is no longer permitted. Applications may continue to be submitted to CMS Examining via the United States Postal Service at the address shown on the applications. Login - Applicants who have already submitted applications to CMS, Division of Examining and Counseling may Login to check the grading status.
NOTE: Applicants logging in to the online employment system using a public access computer (kiosk, library, unemployment office, etc.) must properly LOGOUT. Failure to do so may compromise the security of an applicant's personal information.
