Head of Mossad in an interview with breakingisrailnews about Netanyahuâ€™s travel to Azerbaijan in this week told our correspondent that the travel enjoys very strategic importance for Israel.
During the recent days Israel has formally proposed the boosting of the security cooperation between two countries and initial negotiations have been conducted in this regard.
â€śI hope that in the remaining days the final text of the official agreement be provided and signed by senior officials of both countries,â€ť said the Yossi Cohen.
In the agreement, the two parties have undertaken to increase multilateral cooperation on common security threats and Tel Aviv has undertook to deploy and mobilize technical equipment and advanced security systems for the government of Azerbaijan.
He continued: â€śaccording to initial agreement with security officials of Azerbaijan, Mossad will work closely with the Azerbaijani government in fields of fighting terrorism, religious extremism, prevention of coup attempts, and the formation of regional multilateral coalitions. In this regard, it was agreed a number of Mossad experienced officers will be deployed in Baku.
Also, joint security meetings between Tel Aviv and Baku will be held quarterly.
At the end, he said in response to a question about the objective of the agreement: â€ścertainly the document has been very useful in upgrading the security of Azerbaijan and coping with foreign threats of the country, and will be to the benefit of both countries and it will provide security for both countries in the region.â€ť
