Barlow Trail / Peigan Trail Improvements
The Barlow Trail/Peigan Trail intersection is directly east of the Deerfoot Trail/Barlow Trail Interchange. The old configuration was experiencing congestion during the morning and afternoon rush hours. As a result, the province is widening Barlow Trail from 50 Avenue South to Deerfoot Trail, and Peigan Trail from Deerfoot Trail to 26 Street East. As well, a jellybean loop is replacing the old southbound yield to improve the safety of getting on southbound Deerfoot Trail.
Project Updates
- Most of the widening and jellybean loop is completed.
- A noise wall is also being constructed on the east side of the highway adjacent to the residences closest to Deerfoot Trail. Start of construction has not been confirmed.
- The entire project, with final paving, noise wall, and other cleanup, is expected to be completed by August 2009.
