Over the formation of the new Election Commission, President Abdul Hamid will hold talks with Jatiya Party (JP) on Tuesday.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told the press on Monday evening, “An 18-member delegation will be led by Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad to discuss with Honorable President at Bangabhaban’s Darbar Hall at 3 pm.”
Other members of the delegation are Raushon Ershad, GM Quader, Ruhul Amin Howlader, Anisul Islam Mahmud, MA Sattar, Kazi Firoz Rashid, Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Fakhrul Imam, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Salma Islam, Delwar Hossain, SM Faisal Chisty, ATU Taj Rahman, Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Tajul Islam Chowdhury and Khaled Akhter.
The formal talks with political parties were initiated by President Abdul Hamid over the EC formation by holding discussions with BNP on Sunday.
As the tenure of the current Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires in February 2017, the President took the dialogue initiative to reform the Election Commission.
