Youth development prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood and achieve their full potential. We promote youth development with activities and experiences that help youth develop social, ethical, emotional, physical, and cognitive competencies.
Fostering youth leadership skills is an essential part of the youth development process. These skills help young adults develop the ability to analyze their strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, influence others opinions, and serve as a positive role model. They also help youth have the self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and ability to carry out personal goals and guide others on a positive course of action.
This webinar will examine what it takes to create new leaders by exploring the topic with a panel of Native young adults successfully leading in their communities. Visit http://www.samhsa.gov/tribal-ttac for more information on SAMHSA Tribal Training and Technical Assistance Center.
