CELTIC ANGLIAN WATER, which provides water and waste treatment services, paid dividends totalling €8.5m to shareholders over the past two years.

The company had revenues of €30.1m and a pre-tax profit of €4.4m in the year to March 2015, down from €6.6m in 2013.

It employees 85 people and has long-term contracts providing services to Irish Water.

Celtic Anglian is 50% owned by Altas Investments, a company made up of assets previously owned by NTR.

The other 50% shareholder is Anglian Water Group, an English water company.

Last year, NTR demerged its wind energy business from other legacy assets. The wind business has just closed a €250m wind energy fund set up with Legal & General Capital.

The company’s remaining assets are now in a vehicle called Altas Investment, which will conduct a disposal programme and return the proceeds to shareholders.
