Daniel Paille was born April 15, 1984 in Welland, Ontario. The first round, 20th overall selection of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Paille is a graduate of the OHL's Guelph Storm.
An offensively gifted forward, Paille played four seasons in Guelph registering 247 points (116-131-247) while leading the Storm to Memorial Cup appearances in both 2002 and 2004. A two-time silver medalist with Canada's World Junior team (2003-2004), Paille went on to make his professional debut with the AHL's Rochester Americans in 2004-05 and would make his NHL debut with the Sabres during the 2005-06 season.
Paille appeared in 29 games for both the Buffalo Sabres and their AHL affiliate in Rochester during his 2006-07 season. He earned a full-time spot on the Sabres' line-up in 2007-08, establishing new career highs in games played (77), goals (19), assists (16) and points (35). He was awarded for his great season with a 2-year, $2.25 million contract in the summer of 2008.
Paille was traded to the Boston Bruins on October 20, 2009 for a third-round and a conditional fourth-round draft selection.
In just his second season in Boston, the Bruins would achieve hockey's ultimate goal; winning the Stanley Cup. After surviving a first round scare from the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins steamrolled over the Philadelphia Flyers and endured a seven game battle with the Tampa Bay Lightning en route to the Stanley Cup Final where they would take on the powerful Vancouver Canucks.
The Bruins would defeat the Canucks in a classic seven game series, with Paille contributing solid defensive play.
After six season in Boston, Paille became an unrestricted free agent after the 2014-15 season. Paille had trouble finding an NHL team to start the 2015-16 season so he had to wait until Jnauary 21, 2016 to sign a one year contract with the New York Rangers.
