Overstated.
The Thomson Reuters Master Journal List is not a journal whitelist and should not be used as one. Numerous low-quality and predatory journals are announcing their inclusion in this list as a mark or guarantee of quality, fooling many.

Bogus Iran-Based Journal Allows Up to 40% Plagiarism

The Journal of Current Research in Science (JCRS) is included on my list of questionable journals, and I strongly advise all honest researchers to avoid it. It allows up to 40% plagiarism in its articles and proclaims several completely fake impact factors. Surprisingly, a new scholarly index from a reputable firm has made the decision to include this journal in its coverage.

Here’s a publisher that all researchers should avoid: Global Advanced Research Journals. This firm publishes 29 broad journals, requires copyright transfer from authors, and charges around $450-$500 to publish an article.

How Does This Fake OA Publisher Manage to Publish Over 500 articles Monthly?

A publisher named The Global Journals, based in Gujarat, India, publishes hundreds of articles each month in its four broad-coverage journals. I don’t understand how such a low-quality and dishonest publisher is able to attract and publish so many articles.

Fake ISI Aims to Trick the Scholarly Community

I recently learned of an impostor website for Journal Citation Reports, the product marketed by Thomson Reuters, and the successor of the Institute for Scientific Information. The impostor calls itself the “Institute for Science Information.”

- Mediterranean Journal of Social Sciences

They’ll publish just about anything.
