In a horror-comedy series like Scream Queens, you can never know who or what is going to last to the next episode. Except for one thing: Chanel #3's cute, fluffy earmuffs.
There is a reason for Chanel #3's weird fashion accessories -- other than Kappa Kappa Tau's uncanny obsession with faux fur -- and it's a pretty geeky one, ironically. Billie Lourd, who plays the third scheming Chanel, is the daughter of Carrie Fisher.
Now where have we heard that name before? Oh yeah.
That's right, Lourd is wearing those earmuffs as an homage to the iconic hairstyle of her royal mother, the butt-kicking Princess Leia in the Star Wars series. Hopefully some of that blaster-wielding strength was passed down to one of the possibly-doomed targets of the Red Devil. Of course, she may stick around for a while, Scream Queens showrunner Brad Falchuk told The Hollywood Reporter. Because we'll see those earmuffs at least a few more times:
There is a very specific reason why she wears them, and you find out in either episode six or seven. We find out why she wears the earmuffs, but it’s not just fashion. It’s necessity. The funny thing with that is that it didn’t start as a necessity. It started as fun, and then once we had them and it looked great, it was like, "Oh, we’ve got to give a good reason for it." So we put that in there.
Hmm...a reason other than staring down Stormtroopers and scruffy-looking nerfherders? We're down to find out. Meanwhile, we'll just be like this while we try to fathom the fact that Princess Leia passed down her genes to another earmuff-wearing queen:
