President’s Budget Request
Fiscal Year 2017
:

The 2017 Budget and 2018 Advance Appropriations requests for VA fulfill the President’s promise to provide America’s Veterans, their families, and Survivors the care and benefits they have earned through their service.

The President’s 2017 Budget includes $182.3 billion for VA in 2017.  This includes $78.7 billion in discretionary resources and $103.6 billion in mandatory funding.  Our discretionary budget request represents an increase of $3.6 billion, or 4.9 percent, over the 2016 enacted level.  VA’s 2018 Advance Appropriations request for discretionary Medical Care is $66.4 billion, an increase of $1.4 billion over the 2017 request.  The 2018 Advance Appropriations request for mandatory Benefits is $103.9 billion, an increase of $1.4 billion above last year’s request.

VA’s budget requests the resources necessary to increase Veteran access to benefits and services, sustain progress on the disability claims backlog, and for ending Veteran homelessness.  The Budget supports the MyVA transformation and provides Veterans, their families, and Survivors in receiving the highest quality benefits and services Veterans earned through we can provide for their sacrifice and service to our Nation.
