Update on Russian-Syrian Attacks in AleppoSince the beginning of September 2016, Aleppo has been under siege and experiencing Russian-Syrian attacks and human rights violations, leaving the civilians of Aleppo without medical supplies or resources.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) recently released a report documenting the breaches by the responsible parties to the conflict after the second Cessation of Hostilities statement on September 12, 2016. The SNHR documents no less than 242 breaches by the Syrian regime and Russian forces. The medical situation has drastically deteriorated for civilians in Aleppo. Hospitals have little to no resources for the injured, and have begun turning people away, states the SNHR. This situation is made worse as the Syrian Regime continues to deny relief aids access into Aleppo. “The United Nations General Assembly and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic are responsible for this failure in putting an end to the genocide in Syria which brings us back to the same scenario in Rwanda. History will never forget the presidents of the current member states of the Security Council.” says Fadel Abdul Ghani, chairman of SNHR. The continued attacks by the Syrian Regime and Russian forces against Aleppo have left 361 civilians dead, including 82 children and 46 women according to the SNHR. The SNHR also documents at least 13 massacres and 22 attacks on civilians. The monitored attacks detailed in the SNHR report points to deliberate attacks on civilian areas by the Syrian Regime and Russian forces, violating rules of the international human rights laws. The SNHR calls for the referral of the Syrian case to the International Criminal Court for all responsible parties. |
