Okay, it’s time to come clean – I’ve watched all the live-action Resident Evil movies, and I’ve liked most of them. Yes, Paul W.S. Anderson’s movies can be sloppy, silly, and don’t make a lot of sense, but the same can often be said of games the games they’re based on. And hey, they’re not all bad. At their best, the RE movies are energetic, imaginative, and do a decent job of balancing original characters and favorites from the video games. Also, who doesn’t enjoy watching Milla Jovovich kick stuff? Come on.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter looks to send the series out on a minor high note. Which is to say, it currently has a 44 percent on Rotten Tomatoes rather than the low-20s marks most recent entries have received.
