Most successful cases of drug repurposing have been largely serendipitous discoveries. Researchers, however, are now taking more-tactical approaches to pinpoint new uses for existing and failed drugs, relying on new high-throughput techniques such as high-throughput screening and bioinformatics strategies to mine data for drug-disease connections.
