The 2016 session of the General Assembly adopted
HB 585 which made numerous changes to 911 statues in Kentucky, including changing the name of the State Board which has jurisdiction over wireless 911 services. Effective July 15, 2016, the CMRS Board has been renamed the Kentucky 911 Services Board.
While a new comprehensive webpage is being prepared to accommodate the updates and edits made necessary by the legislation, this single page will serve as the Board’s website.
Attention: Service Providers and Tax Services
Providers (or their Tax Service) remitting 911 surcharges to the Board will continue to do so using the EFT and Provider Remittance Report process. However, HB 585 made changes in the collection & remittance of 911 fees from Providers effective for 2017 which require that there be two versions of the Provider Remittance Report for a period of time. One version is to be used when the "reporting period" is for a month during 2016. If the "reporting period" is for a month in 2017, a revised provider remittance report is to be used.
- The appropriate version of the provider remittance report to use is based on the month and year of the "reporting period", NOT the date that the report is filed.
- The version of the provider remittance report applicable to "reporting periods" in 2016 will taken down circa April 1, 2017. All Provider remittance reports for months in 2016 should be filed before then.
2016 Reporting Period
Use this version of the remittance report when the "reporting period" is for a month during 2016.
2017 Reporting Period
Use this version of the remittance report when the "reporting period" is for a month during 2017.
