We're here to help employers and workers, families and communities reduce unintentional injuries ("accidents"). Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for South Dakotans ages 1 - 44, taking the lives of nearly 500 South Dakotans each year, disabling many more, and sending tens of thousands to emergency departments and hospitals.

Our goal is to make South Dakota a safer place to live, by helping you be safer wherever you are: at work, at home, at play or on the roadway.
The South Dakota Safety Council, a chapter of the National Safety Council, is a private, not-for-profit organization, established in 1949. It operates in partnership with the Minnesota Safety Council, which allows both organizations to share programs and maximize resources.
