Training Options for Injured Workers

L&I provides funding for qualified injured workers to receive training for a new job. Workers have 2 options.

Vocational Option 1: Follow the L&I-approved plan

• The worker completes an L&I approved plan with the assistance of a vocational provider.
• A Vocational Option 1 training plan can last up to 2 years with the retraining benefit.

Vocational Option 2: Develop their own plan

• The worker chooses their own training plan.
• If a worker selects vocational option 2, they will have 5 years to spend retraining benefits on an approved L&I training program.
