If you answer 'yes' to any of these questions, L&I can help:
L&I enforces workplace safety & health rules in Washington State. Employers are required to provide a safe workplace to all employees.
- Are you being asked to do unsafe work or have you seen something unsafe at work?
- Have you raised your safety & health concern with management but nothing's been done?
- Have you driven by a worksite and seen employees in danger?
- Have you heard from a friend or family member about hazards in their workplace?
- Were you fired, demoted, or otherwise mistreated or discriminated against at work for voicing safety & health concerns?
In Washington state, L&I handles workplace health & safety complaints and discrimination.
At L&I, the Division of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) can investigate to determine if you have been discriminated against for voicing concerns about workplace safety & health. For other types of discrimination that L&I can help with, see the Workplace Rights section of our web site.
The information in this section will help you understand what L&I can do, what you can do, and what to expect from L&I.
