OFFICE FOR COASTAL MANAGEMENT

Contracting Vehicles for Governmental Organizations

Most governmental organizations contract with private firms, but the cost in time and paperwork can be high. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has lessened many of these problems by entering into two contracts with several private-sector firms. These contracts focus on geospatial services and data, and social science and are available to other governmental organizations (federal, state, and local).

Requirements for using the contracts include the following:

  • All work must be done to facilitate the management and protection of coastal communities and natural resources.
  • Participants must be governmental organizations.
  • A memorandum of understanding with the NOAA Office for Coastal Management must be in place before the contracting vehicle is used.

Using this contract means less paperwork and access to the top companies providing social science and geospatial services. Project scoping assistance is also provided.
