Indian police claimed that the youth were militants and were killed in an encounter with the troops.

Srinagar, January 25 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, five Indian soldiers were killed while four others went missing after a snow avalanche hit an army camp in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district.

Five bodies have been recovered so far, said an Indian official, adding that a rescue operation is continuing to look for any survivor.

People from dozens of villages including rushed to Awoora area of Pahalgam to join funeral processions of the youth. The mourners carried the bodies of the martyrs towards the native villages of the martyrs in huge processions.
