Jay Bothroyd has apologised to Blackburn for his crazy dismissal at Norwich.

Bothroyd completely lost his mind at Carrow Road after a tussle with Canaries midfielder Mattias Jonson.

After a couple of shoulder barges in the corner, Bothroyd suddenly turned around and kicked Jonson in the shins.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes refused to condemn his striker, as the former Wales boss was no stranger to a scuffle as a player.

Former Coventry and Perugia man Bothroyd has, nevertheless, offered an apology for his actions to his manager, team-mates and fans.

"I'd like to apologise to Mark Hughes, my team-mates and the Blackburn fans," said Bothroyd.

"I lost my head in a moment of madness. I acted unprofessionally and deserved to get my marching orders.

"This has taught me a valuable lesson."
