Outreach to the public is central to the Idaho Transportation Department’s vision, to attract the young engineers and other people that help propel the department into the future. District 2’s recent outreach at the University of Idaho’s Career Fair Feb. 8 in Moscow, spearheaded by Janet Zarate, Kerby Kirkham and Joe Schacher, is just the latest example.

Greenbelt addition wins Engineering Excellence Award
A project that added a new section to the Boise River Greenbelt recently received an Engineering Excellence award from the Idaho Association of Engineering Companies. ITD collaborated with Keller Associates, Boise City, COMPASS and Ada County Highway District on the $3.7 million project.

Millennial drivers are highway hazards, survey shows
Millennial drivers are the worst. That’s not just their elders talking. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety found 88% of drivers 19- to 24-years-old acknowledged engaging in risky behavior such as texting while driving, running red lights or speeding during the previous month, according to a report released Wednesday.
