HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS
Got oils? Great! Let me introduce you to the many ways you can use essential oils. There are four basic ways: Topically, Aromatically, Internally, and Externally.
Let’s start with the most common method, topically. Most essential oils can be used topically meaning directly to the skin. Depending on the oil and how sensitive your skin is, some oils may need diluting. Oils can be diluted with a carrier oil like coconut oil (use a 1:3 ratio).
Aromatically is one of my favorite ways to use oils. You can diffuse it by using a quality diffuser that utilizes the room temperature or vibrations to diffuse the oil into the air. You can also directly inhale oils by holding the bottle a few inches from your nose. Applying a few drops of oils to a cotton ball, handkerchief or pillowcase is another way to benefit from oils.
Thirdly, essential oils can be used internally. Please note that not all essential oils should be taken internally and not by all people. Essential oils are potent and you need to understand each one before taking it internally. To take essential oils internally just add a few drops inside a veggie capsule. It’s a good idea to dilute your oil when taking internally with a carrier oil.
Externally using oils is when you use it around the home, as in cleaning. Adding a few drops of lemon oil to your dishwasher will make your kitchen smell wonderfully. Try mixing your favorite oil with baking powder and sprinkling it on your carpet before vacuuming. There are lots of home remedies for stains, ants and other cleaning chores where using essential oils will do the trick.
